The Vision of Hope Foundation was formed to promote opticianry education; develop future opticianry leaders and perform international, national, and community based vision related mission work. As part of the 2026 Leadership Conference, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a community vision mission hosted by Big City Optical in Oak Brook, Illinois.
Approximately 55 individuals and families from a local church community will receive vision care services through this collaborative effort. The project has been made possible through the support and coordination of the Illinois Opticians Association, with special recognition to Doug Pelkey and Europa Eyewear for helping initiate the connection with Big City Optical.
The mission will take place during the UOA Leadership Conference 2026, held June 24–27, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to leadership programming, attendees will have the opportunity to tour Europa Eyewear and MEI System, providing a behind-the-scenes look at innovation and manufacturing within the optical industry.
This mission reflects the leadership community's commitment to service, collaboration, and expanding access to vision care while bringing together professionals from across the industry.
